We have always found it curious to reflect that we at Trout Insurance are nestled amid several great coffeehouses. This heartens back to the earliest days of insurance. We have all heard of “ Lloyd’s of London “ … but what is this exactly?

After coffee was first imported into England in 1652, coffee quickly became the drink of choice of the newly emerging entrepreneurial classes. Those coffeehouses are where you could find merchants of all kinds and sorts.
Edward Lloyd’s on Tower Street, opened in 1688, was popular with ship owners and their captains. And soon insurance brokers.
Mr. Lloyd took this a step further, renting out tables ( boxes) where these brokers could set up shop.
So it began and remains to this day “ Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s of London”

Before we moved into our space at 29 North Main Street in Weaverville, when folks asked where we could meet, we would reply “at the certain coffeehouses in Weaverville: All Good or Well Bred or Yellow Mug"
To honor our heritage, we are partnering with our good coffee neighbors for a virtual “ fishbowl “ to treat folks to great cup of
coffee and more, starting with the Yellow Mug
