D’OH !  Enroll by March 31!

You can’t buy insurance for your home if your kitchen is on fire – the same applies to health insurance after March 31.

What does this deadline mean for you? If you have not enrolled by March 31, you will not be able to obtain a compliant new health insurance plan until January 2015, except in a few special cases.

Just like Homer -  if he does not have insurance – it will not pay for the fire in the kitchen.  Because the new health insurance plans are Guaranteed issue – No health questions -  And No Pre-existing  condition exclusions or limitations – you must Get Covered Now.

If Not -  then you will have to pay the full cost of medical expenses for the rest of 2014.

After March 31 -  You can buy new coverage only in a few special cases.  These include:  having a baby, getting married, losing the health insurance you already had – like thru employer group insurance or moving to a new coverage area or state.

So … Don’t Say D’OH - There’s still time. Call us today and we can help you swim upstream out of the confusion, review your insurance needs and find a plan that is right for you!

Open Enrollment Ends March 31: What Does this Mean?

Many new ACA rules for individual plans mirror long-established rules for large group insurance.  When you join a large company and have an opportunity to enroll in their insurance plan, you MUST sign up during their open enrollment.  If you don’t, coverage will not be available to you.

This is the same with new plans, unless you have a quantified event, i.e., job loss, marriage, birth, etc. In this case, if you have NOT enrolled byMarch 31, you will NOT be able to obtain a compliant new health insurance plan until January 2015!

So what can you do? If you don’t have qualifying insurance through your employer or you haven’t already purchased a plan through the Market Place, there’s still time. Call us today and we can help you swim upstream out of the confusion, review your insurance needs and find a plan that is right for you!
