We have all heard the stories about the new Healthcare.gov website and it’s opening delays and technical glitches. Millions of people are trying to logon and basically the system is overloaded. We have been successful in getting on, establishing an account and password, reviewing the plans and determining eligibility for tax credits. But - only after long waits and multiple attempts. This is important as it is the Marketplace which determines your Premium Discount - aka – subsidy – to reduce the cost of your insurance. “ So what do we do now ? “ We can start the process. Review your insurance needs and examine the plans which will best fit your needs. Help you calculate the income you will report on your 1040 tax return for 2014. Estimate your premium discount and what your monthly insurance costs will be. And then when the Marketplace is fully functional and working up to speed, it will be easy to create your account, determine eligibility and have that applied to your new 2014 insurance plan.
